Sawada, Iemitsu

Summary

Iemitsu Sawada, the father of Tsuna, is widely perceived by his son as a disinterested loser who works at oil fields and has no connection to the Mafia. In reality, Iemitsu is the great-great grandson of the first Vongola boss and serves as the "Outside Advisor," the second-highest rank in the organization, stepping in during family crises. Although not an official member of the Vongola Family, he strongly opposed Vongola IX’s choice of Xanxus as successor, preferring Tsuna for the role, and traveled the world while awaiting the old boss’s decision. He eventually returned to Japan with Dino, bringing the genuine halves of the Vongola Rings. To protect them, he ordered his subordinate and disciple, Basil, to deliver fake rings to Tsuna as a decoy, a strategy supported by both Reborn and Dino despite Basil’s unawareness of the deception. During Tsuna’s training, Iemitsu secretly monitored his progress. When the battle for the Vongola Rings began, Iemitsu assumed Vongola IX was dead and traveled to Italy with his subordinates to investigate, only to discover the body was a fake. Currently, in the Future arc, he is on vacation in Italy with his wife. Known formerly as the Vongola’s "Young Lion," Iemitsu is often seen carrying a pickaxe.
