Summary
Red is a central figure in the Pokémon Adventures manga. In the Pokémon: The Origin adaptation, his design draws from the Fire Red and Leaf Green remakes. He selects Charmander as his starter Pokémon to match his name, while his rival, Green, chooses Squirtle to avoid picking the same type. Red’s original starter was a Poliwag that he rescued from drowning, evolving it into a Poliwhirl and eventually a Poliwrath in the chapter Buzz off, Electabuzz!. Professor Oak identifies his special skill as Pokémon battling, earning him the title of Fighter. He serves as a leader among the Pokédex holders, second only to Oak.
