He does not perceive his in-game character as a mere self-insert avatar, but rather as a female alter ego that represents his ideal loved one, whether that be a parent, sibling, or romantic interest. Because of this distinct separation between his real self and his digital persona, Akane failed to recognize him in person until Eita voluntarily disclosed his true identity within the game.
