Summary
Robert E. O. Speedwagon initially presents himself as the boss of a gang of thugs from Ogre Street who confronts Jonathan, but he quickly recognizes the young man's integrity and commitment, leading to a deep friendship. He plays a crucial role in exposing Dio’s scheme to poison George Joestar, after which he pledges his full support to Jonathan in the battle against their common enemy. By the 1930s, Speedwagon has established himself as the leader of the Speedwagon Foundation, a massive oil corporation that provides significant assistance to the Joestar lineage throughout Series 2-6. He passes away in 1952 from a heart attack at the age of 89. The initials R.E.O. in his name are a reference to REO Speedwagon, a popular American rock band from the 1970s and 1980s. Notably, he does not appear in the 2007 animated film adaptation of the Phantom Blood arc.
