Summary
Zenzaburo Mitsukoshi is an original creation exclusive to the anime adaptation, as he never appears in the source manga. While his true motives remain ambiguous, he seems to be acting as an investigator for a real estate firm that intends to purchase Maison Ikkoku to demolish it for a new apartment complex. Despite this professional agenda, he grows fond of the residents and ultimately terminates his association with the development company. During his time at the boarding house, he resides in room 3, and his surname mirrors that of the prominent Japanese department store chain Mitsukoshi.
