Summary
Nico is a fairy who assumes the form of a cat and accompanies Lydia on her journey with Edgar. Although capable of moving on four legs, he prefers to walk upright like a human. He possesses the ability to turn invisible and can read and write in human language. Previously, he served as a companion to Lydia’s mother. Nico has refined tastes, enjoying liquor and fine tea, and is particular about being treated as a gentleman rather than an animal. This obsession with propriety drives him to meticulously maintain his attire, which often includes a neck ribbon, suits, or tailcoats, as well as the condition of his fur and whiskers. Edgar occasionally provokes him by deliberately scratching or petting him like a common cat. Despite being cowardly and often fleeing when situations become dangerous, and lacking any desire or ability to fight physically, Nico provides invaluable support to Lydia. He gathers intelligence from local fairies, acts as a guide for travel between the human realm and the fairy world, and serves as an adviser. Recently, Edgar has attempted to bribe Nico with luxury items, such as fine food or gentleman’s accessories like canes and letter-writing sets, in exchange for information regarding Lydia’s activities.
