Nimura, Kensuke
Summary
Kensuke Nimura is the protagonist, an ordinary high school student who has possessed the ability to see ghosts since childhood. Although this gift made him feel isolated, his life changed after meeting Kagura. As the son of a kendo instructor, he practiced the art from a young age and employs these skills during his missions, sometimes wearing sunglasses while fighting. His journey focuses on his growth as a spirit-user, with swords serving as his primary weapons. He initially wields "Michael #12," but after it breaks in combat, he receives "Michael Revolution" as a replacement. He supports Kagura through her emotional struggles, leading to a deep bond between them. Kensuke carries a sesshōseki near his heart, the same type that turned Yomi into an evil spirit. Yomi claims the stone chose to be placed there. It grants him memories and significantly amplifies the power of his sword techniques. The stone was later removed when Imawano Setsuna forcefully tore it out in the Garden of Tamamo, fatally wounding him. He survived because Kagura defeated Setsuna and revived the Kyuubi, using its powers to heal his body from the brink of death. Strengthened by his resolve to save Kagura from Kyuubi's control, he unlocks the true power of Michael Revolution, allowing him to cut through dimensions. Kagura notes that Kensuke has a unique presence that calms spirits, even making Byakuei feel more secure in his proximity. By volumes 8 and 9, he bears a scar over his eye from an attack by a dark wolf demon.
