Summary
Waka Sugimura is the mother of Kaoru. While she deeply loves her son, their interactions are frequently marked by friction, as she often enters his room without knocking, which prompts him to yell at her. She occasionally tidies his space and scolds him for purchasing excessive amounts of mail-order "junk." It appears she is a widow, and although she is not as occupied as Nana's mother, she is frequently away for work.
