Summary
Found as a child in a sack bearing only his surname, Makube was adopted by Gen, whom he affectionately calls Grandfather. He later adopted the designation MakubeX, with the "x" representing an unknown variable, and his name is consistently rendered in romaji. A genius hacker capable of manipulating computers at will, MakubeX was initially trained by Gen but quickly surpassed his mentor's skills. After leaving home to join the VOLTS, he rose to become one of the "Four Kings" ruling the Infinity Fortress alongside Shido Fuyuki, Fuuchouin Kazuki, and Masaki Kurusu. Following Ginji Amano's departure, MakubeX became the sole remaining King, establishing a dictatorial regime that earned him the moniker "young demon king." During the Infinity Fortress arc, the GetBackers were hired to retrieve the mysterious "IL" from him. It was eventually revealed that IL refers to both a computer disc containing critical atomic bomb data and an implosion lens, a vital component of implosion-type nuclear weapons. The arc concluded with MakubeX reconciling with Ginji, who acknowledged the transfer of power. His second-in-command is Sakura Kakei. In the IL arc, his four chief subordinates were Juubei Kakei, Haruki Emishi, Takuma Fudo, and Kyoji Kagami; although Fudo vanished, Juubei and Emishi remained loyal. Later, after the Divine Design arc, Toshiki Uryuu came under his command, where MakubeX assigned the newcomer to his old comrade, Juubei.
