Summary
Ryuu is the sibling of Kei and initially serves as a terrorist within the resistance movement. In the anime adaptation, he facilitates a bombing at a shopping mall before leading a team to infiltrate a military hospital to gather intelligence on the new subject, Tetsuo Shima. The manga depicts a shift in his character arc as he moves away from his extremist background toward a more heroic role. He allies with George Yamada and helps guide Shotaro Kaneda to Akira’s chamber where Tetsuo Shima is detained, all while struggling with alcoholism.
