Summary
Kenji Fujima serves as both the player and coach for Shoyo High, wearing jersey number 4 at the point guard position. Standing 178 cm tall and weighing 66 kg, he is a third-year student who typically remains on the bench, entering the game only when his presence is absolutely critical, such as when the team is struggling or trailing behind. His teammates hold him in such high regard that they strive to avoid needing his intervention, yet his mere readiness to join the court often inspires them to play with greater intensity. Fujima’s demeanor shifts dramatically depending on his role; off the court, he is calm, mild-mannered, and friendly, even handling his fangirls with kindness. However, once on the court, he transforms into a confident, high-spirited, and ruthless competitor. As Maki notes in volume 10, his gameplay is far from rational. As a point guard, Fujima leads his team with effective ball distribution and scoring ability when necessary, establishing himself as one of the top point guards in the Kanagawa prefecture. During the first round of the National Championships, Shohoku faced Toyotama High School, where their captain, Tsuyoshi Minami, known as the "Ace Killer," severely injured Fujima. This injury forced Fujima out of the game and contributed to Shohoku's subsequent loss to Toyotama.
