Crimson Rubeus, referred to as Rubeus in the English dub, serves as the initial member of the Black Moon Clan to emerge in the twentieth century. His primary objective involves locating an individual codenamed Rabbit, who escaped to past-era Tokyo. While he adheres to the commands of Prince Demand and Wiseman, Rubeus also commands his own subordinates, the Ayakashi Sisters. Within the anime narrative, he shares a romantic connection primarily with Cooan, the youngest sister, although most of the sisters harbor feelings for him, with the exception of the eldest, Petz. After the sisters recover, Rubeus attempts to abduct Chibiusa and subsequently captures the Sailor Senshi, using them as leverage to force Sailor Moon to deliver the Silver Crystal. When Sailor Moon arrives to rescue her friends, Rubeus kidnaps her and Chibiusa, who had secretly followed, and brings them onto his spaceship. A conflict erupts over the prisoners, but Chibiusa locates and shatters the device controlling the vessel, causing it to malfunction and ignite. Following Sailor Moon’s attack, the Senshi are liberated, and they, along with Chibiusa and Sailor Moon, teleport away, abandoning Rubeus on the burning ship. Esmeraude then appears, and Rubeus pleads to be returned to the future, but she rejects him as too useless after repeated failures. His fixation on eliminating Chibiusa ultimately proves fatal as the spaceship explodes, killing him. In the manga adaptation, Rubeus kidnaps Sailor Mars, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Jupiter but fails to apprehend Sailor Venus. He demonstrates extreme loyalty to Prince Demand, appearing alongside him to mock the captured Sailor Moon. Eventually, he discerns Wiseman’s true nature and is executed by Wiseman when he confronts him about the deception.
