Toki

Summary

Toki is the second of the four Hokuto brothers and a staunch pacifist who strives to utilize Hokuto Shinken as a healing art. He developed the self-made technique Hokuto Ujō Ken, or North Star Humane Fist, which is skilled in both curing ailments and inflicting death. When Toki kills with this style, his opponents die experiencing intense euphoria and pleasure rather than agony. Ken describes Toki as having the most elegant style among the siblings and notes that he was the favored successor to the Hokuto Shinken lineage. During the war, Toki was exposed to nuclear fallout while forcing open the jammed doors of a bomb shelter where Ken and Yuria were hiding. He survived for two weeks without sustenance, but the radiation turned his hair white and left him with a terminal illness. Consequently, Toki renounces his claim to succeed Hokuto Shinken and becomes a wandering doctor to alleviate human suffering. He once healed an entire village of sick residents, earning the settlement the title "Village of Miracles" and establishing Toki’s reputation as a miracle worker. Later, Toki is captured by Raoh’s army and imprisoned at Cassandra. While Amiba impersonates him to damage his reputation, Kenshiro rescues Toki, who then joins the rescue in the fight against Raoh. It is eventually revealed that Toki and Raoh are blood brothers who were orphaned as children and adopted by Ryuken, who sought a student to train. Initially, Ryuken trained only Raoh while Toki observed. After a hunter killed Toki’s pet dog, Toki displayed his combat prowess by relentlessly beating the man, proving he had learned to fight through observation. Ryuken then began training Toki as well. At that time, Raoh extracted a promise from Toki that he would stop Raoh if he ever strayed onto a wrong path. As an adult, Toki attempts to honor this vow by trying to prevent Raoh from exploiting Hokuto Shinken for personal gain. However, the weakened Toki is easily overpowered and defeated by Raoh.
