Summary
Claude Monteil served as the National Treasury Manager under the Rebelo Administration. Following the New Galactic Empire's occupation of Heinessenpolis at the conclusion of the Second Alliance–Imperial War, Imperial forces demanded access to the Free Planets Alliance's national asset records. Monteil refused to cooperate, arguing that only tax-paying citizens possessed the right to request such information. He maintained that government officials were bound by a duty to act in accordance with both Alliance laws and their own conscience. While openly admitting his desire to preserve his own life, he insisted that his responsibility as a public servant required him to uphold his duties.
