Summary
Carter Lannis serves as the chief knight in Roland's employ and was among the very first to join him upon arriving at Border Town. He projects the image of a straightforward and reliable man, accustomed to interpreting the world through a soldier's perspective. His initial caution, unwavering loyalty to duty, and skepticism toward anything unusual lead many to view him as a guardian of the old order. However, beneath this plain exterior lies a core of honesty, discipline, and a readiness to follow the lord he eventually acknowledges as his own. Trained in traditional combat and military practices, Carter later demonstrates the ability to adapt to the new weapons introduced under Roland's rule. He holds a prominent position among the prince's closest aides and remains by his side during some of Border Town's most critical moments. Despite his strong attachment to familiar concepts of service and order, he is one of the first to transition from suspicion to trust, evolving into a steadfast support for the new authority.
