Summary

Anya Yurievna Cocolova is the only other student explicitly named as having graduated alongside Negi. Although she resides in Wales, she is not Welsh; her full Russian name suggests she is likely of Russian descent. A year older than Negi, they have been childhood friends for as long as they can remember. Haruna Saotome noted that Anya is one of the few people with whom Negi speaks informally. She assisted Negi in packing for his journey to Japan, and her mother was among those petrified by Wilhelm’s attack. During the Legendary Mahora Martial Arts Tournament, Alberio summoned her after she pointed to the cover of the books he used as his Pactio artifact. Prior to returning to Wales, Anya worked as a fortuneteller in London on an assignment from the Magical Academy, though it remains unclear if her return to Wales was a vacation or a permanent relocation. Anya often appears grumpy and frowning around Negi, yet she was visibly excited by his return from Japan. She immediately dislikes Asuna, partly because the older girl has a more developed physique, while she takes an instant liking to Yue and Nodoka due to their similar body types. She utilizes fire magic, notably employing a diving kick attack and a flaming punch, though she occasionally accidentally ignites her own clothes or hair if she is not careful. Anya stayed with Negi and his class during a short vacation at a beach resort. She harbored an immediate dislike for the more well-endowed girls in Negi’s class and was initially unaware that Negi had already formed seven Probationary Contracts, while she herself had none. She later discovered the existence of these contracts with dismay, and was even more troubled to learn that Negi had far surpassed her in magical ability and no longer relied on her protection.
