Summary

Kankurou is a shinobi with registration number 54-002. In his first appearance, he was fourteen years old, standing 165 cm tall and weighing 61.2 kg with brown hair and black eyes. By the second part of the series, he had grown to 175 cm while maintaining his weight, and his rank advanced from Genin to Jonin. Born on May 15 under the Taurus sign, he has blood type B. His preferences include hamburger steaks and collecting puppets, while he dislikes spinach and children. Initially, Kankurou displays a clear aversion to younger individuals, showing visible irritation when around them. However, this trait diminishes over time, particularly in his relationship with his younger brother, Gaara. Although Kankurou originally tolerated Gaara out of fear, the two grow close during the timeskip as Gaara begins to confide in him about his dream to protect Sunagakure at any cost. Kankurou becomes fiercely protective of Gaara, challenging anyone who speaks ill of him. When Gaara is abducted by the Akatsuki, Kankurou rushes to rescue him, remaining undeterred even after being nearly killed in the process. As a combatant, Kankurou is a skilled puppeteer known for his brutal fighting style, often leaving foes in severe pain. He utilizes puppets originally crafted by Sasori, acquiring them after Sasori left Sunagakure. His arsenal includes Karasu, a heavily modified offensive puppet equipped with concealed weapons and detachable limbs for independent attacks. Kuroari serves as a capture tool, using saw-blade arms to dismember opponents trapped within its body. Sanshouo, a third puppet that appears in the anime, features a hollow body that allows Kankurou to take cover. Kankurou often coordinates these puppets, such as using Karasu to create smoke screens while Kuroari attacks blinded targets.
