Summary
As the current ruler of the Karasuki kingdom and the father of Ayame as well as the grandfather of Rio, Karasuki, Homura once recognized the romantic bond between Zen and Ayame. Although he desired to allow them to marry, he knew that nobles from rival factions would not accept a union between a princess, regardless of her low position in the succession line, and an upstart like Zen, despite the latter’s fame as the kingdom’s war hero. Following the ceasefire incident, he ordered the couple to flee together while he publicly feigned agreement with the Rokuren kingdom’s prince’s demand to hand them over. This charade bought him the time necessary to prepare for and ultimately win the war against the Rokuren kingdom.
