Iceburg

Summary

As the president of the Galley-La Company, Iceburg is a beloved figure in Water 7, particularly among his employees who value his guidance on shipbuilding. He exhibits a dual nature, often acting childishly by canceling meetings to show people around or caring for animals, such as a mouse he named Tyrannosaurus. However, he can be deeply serious when the situation demands it, revealing that his playful demeanor is reserved for moments when he is relaxed. Following Tom’s death, Iceburg held the blueprints for Pluton for four years before secretly passing them to Franky, Tom’s other apprentice and childhood friend. Because this transfer was clandestine, the government still assumes Iceburg possesses the plans, leading to frequent visits from officials attempting to retrieve them. Initially, Iceburg believed Nico Robin deserved death due to her unique ability to decipher Poneglyphs, and he attempted to kill her during the Water 7 arc. He later retracted this stance, realizing she was a good person. The devastation caused by the recent Aqua Laguna inspired Iceburg to transform Water 7 into a floating vessel. During discussions with Franky, he quoted Tom’s famous phrase, "With a DON!", which Franky felt perfectly suited Iceburg’s character. In a Volume 43 SBS, it was revealed that his birthday is January 3rd, derived from the phonetic components of his name. Although Eiichiro Oda has spelled his name as Iceburg, fans often prefer Iceberg, and the spelling has varied in the anime and fan polls. He occasionally begins sentences with "nmaa" to express frustration.
