Asanuma, Ittou
Summary
During the Black Moon arc of the manga, Asanuma is introduced as a student who holds Mamoru in high regard. He is a member of the school’s Sci-Fi Club and a self-proclaimed supernatural enthusiast who actively reports UFO sightings. His perception of reality shifts after witnessing Mamoru’s self-healing abilities and receiving an electric shock from Makoto, leading him to conclude that the Senshi are extraterrestrials. When he confronts Makoto, she initially denies his claims, but her stance changes after he mentions hearing Luna speak with Usagi. This prompts Makoto to reveal her identity as Sailor Jupiter and disclose the identities of the other Senshi, sealing the moment with a kiss on his forehead. Asanuma makes brief appearances in Act 24 of the Infinity arc and again in Act 45 of the Stars arc, where Usagi asks him for Mamoru’s phone number while he is in America. In the anime, he appears in a short, unnamed scene in episode 169, with his name listed in the credits. He visits Mamoru’s apartment to check on him after missing a PC Network meeting, but leaves after receiving no answer despite ringing the doorbell multiple times. Usagi later describes him as a suspicious guy.
