Shin

Summary

Shin served as Kenshiro’s first antagonist and was originally his close friend and rival. Both trained in the Nanto Seiken martial arts, with Shin specializing in the Nanto Koshuuken, also known as the "Lone Eagle Fist of the South Star," a style that allows practitioners to pierce flesh with their bare fingers. Secretly in love with Yuria, Kenshiro’s partner, Shin grew increasingly jealous. Corrupted by Jagi, Shin convinced himself to steal Yuria, subsequently challenging and defeating Kenshiro. He inflicted Kenshiro’s signature seven scars, shaped like the Big Dipper, by stabbing him with his fingers. When Yuria finally confessed her love to him, Shin abandoned Kenshiro to die in the desert. Aiming to win Yuria’s affection through conquest, Shin gathered an army under his "Bloody Cross" banner to dominate the land. He ultimately established the city of Southern Cross in her honor. Despite his efforts, Yuria never reciprocated his feelings due to his cruelty and her enduring love for Kenshiro. Kenshiro survived his ordeal and roamed the desert searching for Yuria. Upon confronting Shin in Southern Cross, Kenshiro defeated him using the Hokuto Juuji Zan, or "Cross-Kill of the North Star," leaving Shin’s "Bloody Cross" emblem branded on his chest. Before dying, Shin revealed that Yuria had jumped to her death. Choosing to end his own life rather than be killed by Kenshiro, he followed her into death. Kenshiro buried Shin properly, stating that he did so because they both loved the same woman.
