Summary
Osmond Ryan serves as the duke of the Western Region and the head of House Ryan, a family that has long held dominance over Longsong Stronghold and the surrounding nobility. He presents himself as an authoritative, arrogant, and calculating figure who despises those around him and views Border Town as merely an extension of his own sphere of control. Bolstered by his high status, the support of the noble alliance, and his belief in Roland's inherent weakness, Osmond emerges as one of the primary antagonists to the new order. As a ruler who depends on the noble coalition and his own elite knighthood, he perceives Roland's rising influence and the fortification of Border Town as a direct threat to his authority. Consequently, Osmond takes personal command of a campaign aimed at eliminating this challenge.
