Summary
Chie is the granddaughter of Kurt and resides in Azalea Town in the Johto region. She appears across the games, anime, and the Pokémon Adventures manga. In the anime, she assists Ash, Brock, and Misty in gathering Apricorns for Custom Poké Balls. In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Gold meets Maisy and Kurt. Maisy reveals her desire for a Friend Ball to capture a cute Pokémon from the mountains, but Kurt refuses to craft one for her. Kurt explains that his ancestors were once the sole creators of Poké Balls before mass production companies took over. He also dismisses Gold as inexperienced, a comment that irritates the young trainer. Despite this, Kurt creates a Friend Ball for Gold. Maisy and Gold travel to the mountains and locate the Pokémon Maisy seeks: a Teddiursa. However, a wild Ursaring appears to protect its cub. Fortunately, Silver is also hunting an Ursaring using his own custom Heavy Ball. The two boys coordinate their efforts, using their specialized Poké Balls to successfully capture the bear Pokémon. Gold gives the Teddiursa to Maisy. Later, the Masked Man takes Maisy hostage to coerce Kurt into surrendering the design plans for the GS Ball.
