Summary
Denbat, John is an English character whose spirit is Raphael, an Aston Martin DB4. A former member of the SAS, he joins Team X-II in their attempt to assassinate Hao. When the mission fails and he discovers that Porf and Lucky are dead, Denbat curses Hao for the deaths of his comrades. Hao questions why Denbat chose to oppose him, given that Denbat was aware Porf and Lucky would likely perish in the process. Acknowledging the potential consequences, Denbat had prepared a test satellite in orbit equipped with a laser called XDI, which was wired to his Archangel. He fires the laser from orbit at Hao, but the blast is deflected around them. Denbat ultimately meets his demise at Hao’s hands. His spirit, Raphael, is contained within the ammunition of a grenade launcher. The character’s name is derived from Golden Bat cigarettes.
