Koganei, Hirofumi
Summary
Hirofumi Koganei serves as the president of the International Chess Club at Miyabigaoka High School and is known for his arrogant demeanor, particularly his disdain for students from Seika. His prejudice leads him to insult two Seika students for showing interest in chess, resulting in him being physically attacked. Misaki intervenes, forcing the aggressors to accompany her to apologize. Upon learning the cause of the assault, Misaki demands that Koganei apologize to the students in return. He agrees, but only on the condition that they can defeat him in a game of chess. Usui accepts the challenge and wins effortlessly. Koganei is a highly skilled player, ranked fourth in the nation. Notably, the author originally planned for Koganei to become the president of the Miyabigaoka High School Council, but this plot point was rejected by the editor.
