Summary
Aristes serves as the head of the Ministry of Priesthood and stands as one of the traditional retainers of the throne. His authority is considered equal to that of the king, granting him the power to approve or veto any marriage the monarch desires. The ministry harbors a deep disdain for Livinus, viewing his ascension to the throne as an act of desecration. This prejudice stems from the fact that Livinus’s mother was a concubine from an ethnic minority. It is hinted that Aristes was responsible for killing numerous princesses during the rite of Illumination, a ruthless tactic employed to prevent Livinus from securing a wife or producing a potential heir to the throne.
