Tobi

Summary

Once a subordinate of Zetsu, Tobi ascended to full membership in the Akatsuki following Sasori’s demise. He assumed Sasori’s ring and was paired with Deidara as his new partner. Distinct from most other ninja, Tobi does not wear a visible forehead protector, rendering his village of origin unknown. His appearance is dominated by an orange mask covering his entire face except for a single eye-hole on the right, which is marked by a swirl pattern. His uniform is adorned with bolts or pins on the arms, though these are now hidden beneath his Akatsuki cloak. Tobi’s combat capabilities remain largely a mystery since he has rarely been shown engaging in direct combat. Although he and Deidara defeated the three-tailed beast, Tobi was never seen fighting; he simply ran from the creature. In the aftermath, Tobi claimed to have incapacitated it with a single strike, a statement Deidara rejected, insisting that his own artistic contributions via exploding clay secured their victory. During his encounter with Sasuke, Tobi displayed an unusual resilience, recovering from what appeared to be fatal injuries. After being slashed across the midsection by Sasuke’s sword, he collapsed only to stand up seconds later, complaining about the attack’s speed. Aside from this feat, he has not demonstrated any specific techniques. Tobi speaks with a formal and precise manner. While Zetsu hinted that Tobi is relatively young by referring to him as a "good boy," his physical age remains ambiguous. He holds Deidara in high regard, addressing him as Deidara-senpai. His personality contrasts sharply with the serious and often hostile demeanor of other Akatsuki members, as Tobi is carefree and goofy, bearing a resemblance to Naruto. This lighthearted nature annoys Deidara, who believes members should remain calm and serious. Tobi frequently irritates his partner unintentionally, often resulting in comedic attacks from Deidara.
