Summary
Watase, a genin from Konohagakure, made his debut in Naruto Shippuuden Episode 281. He is characterized as stubborn and ambitious, driven by a desire to fight in the Fourth Shinobi World War despite his youth. Watase believed that true heroism and Hokage potential were defined by battlefield contributions rather than connections, pointing to Naruto as proof. During a gathering convened by Ebisu, he lamented being born too late for combat. When Konohamaru rallied the genin to confront the impending threat, Watase challenged his authority, calling him to stop acting like Hokage. The confrontation nearly turned violent when Watase drew a kunai on Konohamaru, but it was diffused before escalating further. He subsequently aided in the defense against the Sumo Wrestlers, pledged to uphold the Will of Fire, and joined other genin assigned to patrol the village sectors.
