Shinnosuke
Summary
Shinnosuke resides in the forest of Ryugenzawa alongside his grandfather, where the pair safeguard local villagers from the massive animals they once raised as pets. During a family vacation years prior, Akane became separated from her group and was attacked by a giant platypus until Shinnosuke intervened to save her. Later, Shinnosuke was nearly killed by his grandfather, who administered some of the Water of Life to him. While Shinnosuke survived, the treatment left him with a severe dependency on the substance. In the present day, Akane sees a television advertisement seeking assistance in controlling the growing monster population in Ryugenzawa and recalls Shinnosuke’s past rescue. Determined to repay him, she travels to the forest and is saved from a giant creature by Shinnosuke, who still displays the scars on his back. Despite his significant memory loss, Shinnosuke welcomes Akane to stay with him and his grandfather. Eventually, Akane cures Shinnosuke of his addiction to the Water of Life by applying a special moss to his back.
