Summary
After L offers the investigation team the option to resign, Aizawa, who had been using the alias Aihara, chooses to stay within the police force. He continues to provide assistance to the team when needed in his capacity as a police officer. Following L's death, Aizawa rejoins the investigation team to work under Light. When he learns that the 13-day rule stated in the Death Note's written rules is false, he begins to suspect Light is actually Kira and reaches out to Near. Aizawa provides information to Near that enables him to deduce Light's true identity, leading to Aizawa being briefly detained at the SPK headquarters. Near eventually agrees to release both Aizawa and Mogi. In the final chapter, Aizawa assumes the role of leader for the investigation team. He is married to Aizawa Eriko, and they have two children, including a daughter named Aizawa Yumi.
