Kawakami, Araya
Summary
Araya Kawakami is an Ittō-ryū swordsman who currently works as a mask-maker. He is driven by a desire to hide his dark history from his son, Renzo, yet he is also the man responsible for raping Rin's mother. He first appears in the On Silent Wings part 1 arc and meets his end at the hands of Manji in On Silent Wings part 6. Following his death, a furious Renzo attacks Manji, who then feigns death. At Araya's burial, Renzo deduces that his father had a sordid past with Rin when she suggests that some past incidents should remain unmentioned, arguing that blissful ignorance is preferable to a lifetime of shame. His story spans across On Silent Wings (I-VI).
