Sakurazaki, Setsuna

Summary

Setsuna is a Shinmeiryu swordswoman from Kyoto who was adopted by Eishun Konoe, the leader of the Kyoto Mage Association and father of Konoka. As Konoka’s childhood friend and protector, she initially maintains a cold demeanor toward her charge, choosing to guard her from the shadows. This distance stems from Setsuna’s lingering guilt over failing to save Konoka when the girl nearly drowned during their childhood. Following the Kyoto arc, however, Setsuna softens and begins addressing Konoka with the terms "Oujo-sama" and "Kono-chan." Her pactio is Sica Shishikushiro, a wakizashi that she can summon and multiply at will to attack targets like guided missiles. Years of rigorous training have also made her proficient in anti-demon arts, and she is the one who instructed Negi on how to create shikigami from paper. Setsuna is a hanyou, specifically of the crow variety, similar to Koutaro. She was exiled from her kind because white wings are viewed as a bad omen, and it was suggested by Evangeline that she is an albino who uses hair dye and contact lenses to pass as human. Throughout the series, a recurring gag involves Setsuna and Konoka appearing to share romantic feelings for each other, despite Setsuna vehemently denying any such sentiments whenever they are caught in compromising situations or questioned about her preferences.
