Toujou, Hidetora

Summary

Toujou, Hidetora is an eighteen-year-old human with red hair, black eyes, and a towering height of 188 cm. He is the fourth member of the Tōhōshinki (TKKH) and is widely considered the strongest among them, potentially surpassing even Kunieda. An eighteen-year-old high school student, Toujou maintains a chaotic schedule by juggling multiple occupations, including carnival booth operator, street food vendor, and construction worker. These jobs frequently cause him to miss school, yet they also demonstrate his exceptional physical prowess for a human, allowing him to sense Saotome’s demon power. His primary motivation is the thrill of combat; he harbors a deep disdain for weaklings and is perpetually bored unless a worthy fight presents itself. This obsession with battle draws him to Tatsumi Oga, who he views as a potential rival, while Oga sees Toujou merely as a convenient outlet for Baby Be’el’s energy. Despite his intimidating appearance and delinquent status, Toujou exhibits a calm and controlled demeanor that contrasts sharply with other students at Ishiyama High. He is emotionally reserved, rarely revealing his true thoughts, and is characterized by a laid-back attitude that borders on unresponsiveness, even in abnormal situations such as kidnapping or dimensional transfers. Like Oga, he lacks intellectual focus on passive matters, preferring to resolve conflicts with his bare hands. Surprisingly, he possesses a soft spot for cute animals and small creatures, including Baby Be’el and cats, although these creatures generally do not reciprocate his affection. He is well-acquainted with Shizuka Nanami of Saint Ishiyama Academy, who refers to him as Tora. First appearing in the manga’s fifteenth chapter and the anime’s twelfth episode, Toujou is a force to be reckoned with, particularly evident during his initial bout against Izuma, where he disregards consequences in favor of the fight.
