Summary
Four centuries ago on the island of Jaya, Musse was the daughter of Calgara and a strikingly beautiful and intelligent Shandian. When their dying priest experienced a vision declaring that the only solution to the plague afflicting their land was to sacrifice their most beautiful woman, Musse willingly stepped onto the altar to save her people. Just as their deity was about to consume her, Montblanc Norland intervened, slaying the giant snake that had misled the Shandians into believing the disease was a divine curse rather than something curable. While Norland searched for the remedy, Musse and his crew were imprisoned in cages. She conversed with the sailors about their captain, and after a race against time, Norland returned with the cure, saving the Shandians. Once freed and aware of the truth, Musse was later seen weeping in her mother’s arms over the traumatic events. However, her tribe ostracized her again after discovering that Norland and his men had chopped down the sacred forest. Musse explained this prejudice to one of Norland’s crew and, upon learning that the forest was the source of the village’s plague, she rushed to inform the villagers. They rang the golden bell to express their regret to Norland before he departed, and her father Calgara hurried to the captain to beg for forgiveness. Three years later, Musse married Seto.
