Summary
Sixteen years prior to the events of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eka Turkuro, the daughter of a pioneering cybernetics company CEO, was abducted by the anticybernetic sect known as the New World Brigade. As one of the first individuals to receive a cyberbrain, her life took a dark turn following the kidnapping. During the episode NOT EQUAL, members of the Japanese Coast Guard's Special Security Team encounter a woman they believe to be Turkuro. After the Security Team vanishes, Section 9 arrives to rescue what they assume is an elderly hostage and the sole surviving member of the Security Team. However, Section 9 soon discovers a disturbing truth: the woman they "rescued" was actually the daughter of the real Eka Turkuro, who was the leader of the terrorists. The genuine Eka Turkuro had undergone rapid aging, likely caused by the stress of her kidnapping or the experimental technology her father had continuously subjected her to.
