Orcot, Chris

Orcot, Chris

Summary

Chris is Leon's younger brother, born to a mother who was fifty when she conceived him and subsequently died during childbirth. Consequently, he was raised by his aunt and uncle, whom he addressed as "Mom" and "Dad." After his younger cousin Sam revealed that Chris was responsible for their mother's death, the shock rendered him mute. He was then sent to Los Angeles with Leon, where he spends most of his time at D's pet shop. Although unable to speak verbally, Chris possesses the telepathic ability to communicate with all of D's animals, as well as with the Count and Leon. He holds Q-chan in high regard, describing him as the cutest, rarest, and most expensive pet in the shop, though it is later revealed that Q-chan is the only creature Chris perceives as an animal. Because Chris initially sees the animals only in their human forms, he believes the Count sells human children, a notion he accepts as long as the children are consenting. In Volume 10, Chris reconciles with his cousin and regains his voice, allowing him to return to his aunt's house. This restoration comes at the cost of his ability to see the animals in their humanoid forms, an event referred to in the manga as a "Departure from Eden." Two decades later, he is depicted as an FBI officer hunting down the next generation of the Count's lineage. Chris first appears in Volume 5, Chapter 2.
