Summary
Astal serves as the reigning monarch of Roland, a status he holds despite his mixed heritage as the son of a noble and a commoner. His early life was marked by ostracization and hostility from his half-brothers, fueling a childhood vow to ascend the throne and rectify the world’s corruption. Renowned as a tactical genius, Astal is prepared to make severe sacrifices, even employing extreme methods, to achieve the greater good. While he is deeply cherished by his subjects and staff, and regards Ryner as his closest friend, he is burdened by the grim certainty that he will eventually have to kill Ryner to protect the kingdom from within. To this end, he secretly orders the continuous monitoring of Ryner’s movements and authorizes cruel medical experiments on other Alpha Stigma bearers and those with cursed eyes, aiming to weaponize their powers. It is also suggested that he is the reincarnation of one of the legendary Heroes mentioned in ancient tales.
