Summary
Baki is a highly skilled Sand Jonin and a pivotal figure within Sunagakure, serving as a member of the village’s advisory council. Regarded as the second-in-command following the Kazekage, he commands immense respect throughout the entire village. He serves as the most trusted Jonin of the Fourth Kazekage, having led the invasion of Konoha and commanded Team Baki, which comprises the Fourth Kazekage’s children: Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro. Given that his student Gaara went on to become the Fifth Kazekage and is considered the most formidable and dangerous ninja in the Sand Village during Parts I and II, Baki’s own strength is widely speculated to be extraordinary. Personality-wise, Baki is a loyal, kind, and deeply respected shinobi who possesses a soldier’s mindset and strong patriotism. He carries himself with confidence derived from his extensive combat experience. While he is naturally caring, he will resort to extreme measures to protect his village, his country, and those he loves. During the Chuunin Exam, he expressed faith in the capabilities of his team members, though he occasionally criticized Kankuro for not treating battles with sufficient seriousness. He also frequently worries about Gaara’s mental stability and his ability to control Shukaku.
