Summary
Tanabe is the newest recruit of the Debris Section, an adopted daughter raised by an engineer who formerly led a death metal band and an elementary school teacher. Having been mute until the age of three, she is a bright and earnest individual, though she struggles with self-doubt. As a novice to space, the Debris Section, and extra-vehicular activity simultaneously, she must gradually learn the ropes from her colleagues. Her name, which is the Japanese word for love, reflects her core belief that love is the solution to every problem. Although she is kind and sweet, willing to do nearly anything to assist others, this gentle exterior conceals a strong drive to improve herself.
