Summary
Mary Kenwood, known by her alias Wedy, is a professional burglar working for L. She specializes in installing surveillance devices, such as bugs, to monitor the Yotsuba Group’s weekly meetings and Higuchi’s car, enabling the team to witness his attempts to kill Matsuda. As a criminal, she is recognized only within the underworld. In digital communications, she uses the lowercase "w" to distinguish herself from Watari. Wedy is referenced but does not appear in Death Note: Another Note. Author Ohba created her and Aiber to utilize characters with special abilities for plot advancement, noting he intended to use Wedy more, potentially having Light control her to place cameras for Misa’s benefit. Artist Obata designed Wedy with a stereotypical female spy appearance, suggesting that a more original look might have warranted a larger role in the series.
