Summary
Izayoi serves as the mother of Inuyasha. In the original manga, her name is never actually revealed. Since she passed away prior to the main events of the story and Inuyasha seldom mentions her, likely due to lingering grief, very little is known about her life. She was the daughter of a feudal lord and eventually fell in love with Inu no Taishou, who reciprocated her feelings. Although the two shared a bond, it remains unclear whether they were formally married or simply mated. Following Inu no Taishou's death, Izayoi was left to raise their son, Inuyasha, alone. She was deeply troubled by the fact that Inuyasha would face discrimination from both humans and demons because of his hanyou heritage. Her death occurred when Inuyasha was quite young, though the exact cause and timing remain unknown. While the manga never gives her a name, the third movie of the series identifies her as Izayoi. Furthermore, Sesshomaru holds her responsible for his father's demise, arguing that she weakened Inu no Taishou, which ultimately led to his death.
