Summary
Lin Yan first appeared possessing the power of an eight-star Dou Ling and held a position within the top ten of Jia Nan Academy's inner court. His relationship with Xiao Yan deepened after the latter extracted the fire poison from him to obtain the Green Wood Immortal Vine, forging a close friendship between the two. Upon advancing to the realm of Dou Wang, Lin Yan joined Xiao Yan in his retaliatory campaign against the Yunlan Sect. The pair later reunited during the Four Directions Pavilion Tournament, by which time Lin Yan had grown to the strength of a four-star Dou Huang.
