Summary
Shishou serves as Kino’s mentor, having instructed her in the art of marksmanship. While she now resides in the forest and has ceased traveling, her true identity remains a mystery, as Shishou is merely a title meaning mentor or master that Kino initially fails to understand. In the anime’s final episode, which is chronologically set before most of the series, the gunsmith who crafted The Cannon reveals that he originally gave the weapon to a young woman who demanded to be called Shishou. This individual traveled across various countries, causing chaos wherever she went, indicating that Shishou was once a nomad. Within the novel series, several stories depict her journeying with a man known as her student during her late twenties. Together, they are portrayed as exceptionally greedy, even displaying cruelty, and they traverse the land in a dilapidated yellow car.
