Muramasa

Summary

Muramasa is the legendary blacksmith behind the famed Muramasa swords and a former Taishirou. He forged the iconic weapons for Kyo, Sasuke, and Benitora. Haunted by the atrocities committed by the Mibu, he viewed Kyo as the symbol of their downfall. Consequently, he abandoned the Mibu to raise Kyo, whom he loved like a son. At the time, Kyo was known as the Demon Child, a label stemming from his mysterious birth and the immediate cessation of fertility among the Mibu following his arrival. Muramasa settled in the mountains with his wife, Mayumi, and her younger sister, Mahiro. Though he found brief happiness with Mayumi, it was cut short when she was assassinated. Mahiro initially blamed Kyo for the murder and vowed revenge, but the true culprit was later revealed to be Chinmei. Despite being several hundred years old, Muramasa retained a youthful appearance thanks to "Sei," a longevity technique employed by Mibu elders. However, his vitality was being consumed by a fatal condition known as the Death Disease, a critical flaw inherent in all Mibu constructs that causes physical disintegration. He possessed the Satori ability, enabling him to read others' thoughts, and was an exceptional swordsman, with Kyo acknowledging that Muramasa was even stronger than he was. Before succumbing to the illness, he was likely the most powerful Mibu in existence. After assisting Kyo in his quest, Muramasa passed away, his body scattering into the wind above Mayumi's grave.
