Summary
Ryoku is a young man hailing from Shin village in East Asia. He crossed paths with Black Star and Tsubaki while the pair were searching for Masamune. There are indications that Ryoku or his community has had prior interactions with the Star Clan, as he immediately identified the tattoo on Black Star’s arm, though he might simply be aware of the clan’s notorious reputation. Initially assuming Black Star was a member of the Star Clan, Ryoku tried to pay him off to leave and subsequently chased him out of the village, terrified that the boy would attack them. This deep-seated fear, combined with his own insecurity about lacking sufficient power, made him vulnerable to being possessed by Masamune. Once Masamune was defeated, Ryoku learned that Black Star was not actually affiliated with the Star Clan, but this revelation did little to improve his opinion of the loud boy.
