Summary

Keiko Yukimura, known as Kayko Yukimura in the English anime produced by FUNimation, English video games, and the English trading card game, is a straight-A student whose personality contrasts sharply with that of Yusuke. The surname Yukimura translates to snowy village, while Keiko means firefly girl or respectful child. Her birthday falls on January 31, and she has blood type A. Her hobbies include cooking and cleaning, and her parents operate a ramen restaurant named the Yukimura Diner. Keiko is fourteen years old at the start of the series and turns eighteen by its conclusion. After Yusuke is fatally struck by a car, he is permitted to return to life on the condition that someone kisses him, which is ultimately performed by Keiko. Yusuke attempts to shield her from his spirit detective activities, but interference from Hiei and the Four Beasts makes this impossible. Following the incident, Keiko requests that Botan explain Yusuke’s situation, but Botan, citing safety concerns, omits the truth and offers a nearly unbelievable lie, which Keiko accepts. She eventually discovers the full story during the Dark Tournament, where she attends with Botan and Shizuru, the older sister of Kazuma Kuwabara. From that point forward, Keiko supports her friend throughout his adventures, remaining by his side during the Sensui arc for moral encouragement alongside Shizuru.
