Pendleton, Erina
Summary
Erina Pendleton is first introduced as a young girl whom Jonathan rescues from a group of bullies. The two eventually begin dating and fall in love, but their relationship is shattered when Dio seizes Erina, kisses her, and brutally beats her. Overwhelmed by humiliation, she distances herself from Jonathan for a significant period. She remains out of the story until after Dio suffers a near-defeat, at which point she tends to Jonathan’s wounds as he recovers. Jonathan ultimately defeats Dio using the Ripple technique, allowing the couple to renew their romance and marry. The newlyweds board a ship for a honeymoon to America, but their journey is interrupted by Dio’s reappearance. As the vessel sinks, Jonathan stays behind in a futile attempt to kill Dio while Erina escapes with an orphaned infant. Years later, she and her grandson Joseph Joestar stand as the sole survivors of the Joestar lineage. Invited by Speedwagon, the pair travels to New York, an event that triggers the narrative of the second story arc.
