Summary
Sugimura Taizo is a member of the Japanese Diet who displays perhaps excessive enthusiasm for the perks associated with his political position. He was captured by American forces on two separate occasions in an attempt to lure Koizumi to a mahjong game. While his colleagues often doubt his legitimacy, believing he secured his seat through sheer chance, Koizumi views Taizo as a source of good fortune.
