Summary
Hachiemon, often referred to simply as Hachi, is a congenial shape-shifting youkai who has formed a friendship with Miroku. In his natural state, he appears as a yokai-tanuki, a type of Raccoon-Dog. The character once assumed the identity of Miroku to peddle fake seals and pursue romantic interests, but this deception ended when Miroku discovered him while he was being attacked by a spirit haunting a cave. Beyond his mischief, Hachi serves as a vital mode of transportation for InuYasha's group. He demonstrates significant loyalty by risking his life to ferry the team into the heart of enemy territory or extract them from danger when the situation demands it.
