Summary
Kalim is a close friend of Silva and serves as one of the primary organizers of the Shaman Fight. He personally evaluated Horohoro and determined that he was qualified to participate in the tournament. Born on April 24, 1971, Kalim acts as a medium for a bull spirit partner named BlackSickle. His medium consists of a bull skull and leg bones, which allow BlackSickle to merge with the lower half of his body, and his associated plant is the plateau. During the tournament in Tokyo, Kalim shares an apartment with Silva. The two roommates frequently bicker about the oppressive summer heat and humidity, as they cannot afford to install an air conditioner. Similar to Silva, Kalim makes a modest living by selling handcrafted Patch goods while in the city. He often serves as a voice of reason, attempting to temper Silva’s impulses to interfere in the Shaman Tournament. Despite this, Kalim is apparently hemaphobic. Following the tradition of Patch priests being named after metals, his name is derived from Kari or Kariumu, the Japanese terms for potassium, which itself comes from the German word Kalium.
